Italian police announced the world’s biggest-ever haul of amphetamines on Wednesday. Eighty-four cation tablets, weighing a total of 14 tonnes, were discovered hidden in machinery and rolls of paper in the port of Salerno, south of Naples. Each huge roll of paper hid about 350 kg of the tablets hidden deep enough inside to escape scanners.
“We know that the Islamic State finances its terrorist activities mainly by trafficking in synthetic drugs produced in Syria, which for this reason has become in recent years the world’s largest producer of amphetamines,” the Italian police said.
Captagon has become known as the ‘jihad drug.’
