France’s president tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday morning and went into seven-day isolation. His wife Brigitte has tested negative and has also self-isolated.
Other members of the government – with whom the president had a working dinner on Wednesday – have so far all tested negative.
Mr Macron was said to be well and continuing to work.
Charles Michel, President of the European Council, has also self-isolated as a precautionary measure.
